On the morning of March 5, a B737 freighter from Tianjin Cargo Airlines took off smoothly from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, heading directly to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This marks the official launch of the new international freight route from “Shenzhen to Ho Chi Minh.” The route is planned to operate four flights per week, focusing on transporting a diverse range of export products, including air express packages, e-commerce goods, hardware components, and electronic accessories. On the import side, the route will primarily handle fresh agricultural products such as lobsters, blue crabs, and durians.
Tianjin Cargo Airlines has added a new wing to its strategic deployment to deepen Shenzhen’s role as a core hub for international air cargo. Following the successful launch of two international freight routes from Shenzhen to Manila and Clark in the first half of 2024, the airline has once again joined forces with Shenzhen to establish another logistics bridge to the ASEAN region. Notably, recent data from Shenzhen Customs reveals that ASEAN has historically become Shenzhen’s primary trading partner in 2024. Against the backdrop of rapid changes in global supply chains and the official implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the cooperation engine between “Shenzhen and ASEAN” is accelerating.
The launch of the “Shenzhen to Ho Chi Minh” route not only greatly supports the construction of a “24-hour logistics circle” between Shenzhen and ASEAN but also provides strong backing for a new cooperation model characterized by “Bay Area innovation and research and development, efficient production in ASEAN, and shared global markets.” This initiative plays a significant catalytic role in strengthening the synergy between the electronics manufacturing industry and cross-border trade along the Belt and Road, as well as promoting deeper integration of supply chains between China and ASEAN.
